Obstetrical and Gynecological Sonography I (DMS 320)

Course Memo

This course is an in-depth study of the female reproductive system through sonographic technique and evaluation and includes abnormal and pathological conditions. An introduction to sonographic techniques used in obstetrics with a focus on the first trimester will be included. |Prerequisite: Acceptance into the DMS Program or by permission of the Dean. |Pre/Corequisite: DMS 301|

  1. Analyze normal and abnormal gynecological anatomy and physiology.
  2. Analyze the normal sonographic appearance of the female reproductive system.
  3. Compare and contrast the sonographic appearance of abnormal and pathological conditions of the female reproductive system with appropriate documentation.
  4. Analyze the normal sonographic appearance of the first-trimester fetus.
  5. Compare and contrast the appearance of abnormal and pathological conditions of the first-trimester fetus with appropriate documentation.
  6. Recognize the sonographic protocols used in evaluation of the non-gravid pelvis, the treatment of infertility and contraception, and the first-trimester fetus.
